Digitalization: Expanded Opportunities for Microenterprises
Provincial Government Approves Criteria for Granting Subsidies for the Digitalization of Microenterprises

BOLZANO (LPA). The Province is supporting small and microenterprises in their efforts to modernize and strengthen their competitiveness. On October 17, upon the proposal of Provincial Councillor for Economic Affairs Marco Galateo, the Provincial Government approved the guidelines for initiatives aimed at supporting the digitalization of microenterprises.

The new criteria apply to companies with fewer than ten employees (previously, the limit was set at five).

“The digitalization potential of small enterprises is still very high and should be fully exploited, as these businesses continue to face challenges when adopting modern technologies. Yet these technologies are crucial for competitiveness and economic growth,” Councillor Galateo emphasized during the press conference following the government meeting.

The revision of the criteria aims to close existing gaps and offer new opportunities and incentives to facilitate the digital transformation of these businesses.

“We want to ensure that small enterprises — which play a vital role in our local economy — can remain competitive in an increasingly digital world,” added Councillor Galateo.

New Measures

The changes concern, among other things, the eligibility of various initiatives, such as:

  • Training, coaching, and mentoring programs for employees and business owners;

  • Consulting and knowledge transfer activities;

  • Expenses for agencies or professionals specialized in social media management (Social Media Managers);

  • Software user licenses, artificial intelligence systems, and the purchase or optimization of software.

The new rules apply to projects with a total eligible amount of no less than €2,000 and no more than €15,000 per application. Grants may cover up to 60% of eligible expenses.

For 2025, a total of €240,000 has been allocated, while starting from 2026, the annual expenditure is estimated at €3.5 million.

Applications for the current year can be submitted from October 20 until December 31, 2025, to the Department of Economic Development.
From 2026 onward, applications must be submitted by the end of September each year.
